Potluck chat: Two InCUBATE research projects - August 18 2009
Hi everyone,
Tomorrow we’ll be talking with Bryce Dwyer from InCUBATE and their current resident, Christopher Kennedy, about similar research they are doing & have done recently.
About InCUBATE & Bryce Dwyer’s research:
InCUBATE is an experimental research institute and residency program operating out of a shared storefront space in Chicago. InCUBATE’s latest project is the Artist Run Credit League (ARCL - http://artistruncreditleague.com/) — a still-forming rotating credit association for artist run groups and spaces in Chicago.
This summer Bryce, one of the members of InCUBATE, researched unconventional residency programs around the world and assembled a provisional database of them. These programs are often not non-profits, organize themselves in novel ways, and operate out of idiosyncratic spaces.
About Artiscycle, Christopher Kennedy’s research:
Artiscycle Platform: A portal for art groups and spaces. A tool for educators, artists and citizens.
The Artiscycle platform will be a collaborative opensource database of artist spaces, groups and projects. The website will help participants understand the organizational models and modes of engagement used by art spaces and groups; a resource for educators, artists and citizens to collaborate and find inspiration for projects and learning strategies in their community.
