Hand-in-Glove
Hi everyone & Happy New Year!
To kick off 2012, this Tuesday we’ll be talking with collaborators Shannon Stratton, Abigail Satinsky, and Bryce Dwyer about the recent conference they coordinated, Hand-in-Glove.
Hand-in-Glove is a semiannual conference for independent visual arts organizers working at the crossroads of creative administration and studio practice. This conference is open to people engaged in the pragmatic realities and imaginative possibilities of organizing exhibitions, re-granting programs, publications, residencies, public programs, platforms for projects, and a variety of other programming that challenges traditional formats for the production and reception of art at the grassroots level. These include, but are not limited to, artist-run exhibition spaces, independent programming series, unconventional residency programs, and artist-run pedagogical experiments.
Shannon and Abigail work on threewalls, a Chicago non-profit organization and exhibition space. Bryce and Abigail are also part of the group InCUBATE. A lot of amazing people were involved in the first Hand-in-Glove conference – maybe you were one of them, or know someone who was, or curious about the next version. Either way, join us this week to chat about the hows whys & outcomes so far, discuss & co-conspire…
